Anupama Parameswaran Files Complaint Against Harassment

Actress Anupama Parameswaran has approached the Kerala Cyber Crime Police after being subjected to an organised online harassment campaign involving fake accounts, morphed images, and defamatory posts.

In a detailed note shared on Instagram, Anupama revealed that she discovered the issue a few days ago when an account began posting fabricated and inappropriate content targeting her, her family, and colleagues from the film industry.

“The posts included morphed pictures and baseless allegations. It was deeply distressing to witness such targeted harassment,” she wrote.

Following her complaint, investigators reportedly traced the activity to a 20-year-old woman from Tamil Nadu, who allegedly operated multiple fake profiles used in the smear campaign.

However, the actress said she had chosen not to reveal the young woman’s identity, citing compassion and a desire not to jeopardize her future.

“I do not wish to compromise her peace of mind or her future,” Anupama stated.

Confirming that legal proceedings are underway, Anupama used the incident to emphasize the need for responsible online behavior.

“Owning a smartphone or having access to social media does not give anyone the right to harass, defame, or spread hatred. Every action online leaves a trace, and accountability will follow,” she wrote.

The actress also spoke about the emotional toll of cyberbullying and highlighted the importance of awareness about cyber laws.

“Being a public figure doesn’t strip away basic rights. Cyberbullying is a punishable offence,” she added.

Anupama’s dignified response to the incident has drawn widespread support from fans and colleagues, many of whom praised her for addressing the issue with maturity and compassion.
