Malayalam producer Antony Perumbavoor has resigned from FEUOK, The Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala, after a fallout with various theatre owners regarding the release date of his much-hyped movie Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham. Antony had demanded that the theatre owners should pay an equal amount offered by the OTT platform for the release of Mohanlal-starrer ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ in the theatres. As the FEUOK presidentVijayakumar had refused to accept the demand, Antony decided to resign from the organisation.
FEUOK was formed in 2017 by actor Dileep, who owns D Cinemas. The committee was formed to settle disputes within the Cine Exhibitors’ Association following a month-long strike by the theatre owners. Antony, who was serving as the Vice President of the Committee since 2017 , had earlier revealed that the makers are exploring all options including a possible OTT release and they have now practically closed the deal for releasing it on Prime Video. As the theatres in Kerala have resumed functioning lately, Antony's decision to release the movie on OTT platforms irked the theatre owners in the state. On the other side, the theatre owners are suffering due to the poor footprints at the theatre and are hoping to bring the audience with biggies such as the Mohanlal starerr epic drama Marakkar.
