Anti-Liquor Activist Nandhini Anandan Behind Bars Before Wedding

Nandhini Anandan, an anti-liquor activist who hails from Tamil Nadu, has now been arrested. She has been sent to jail along with her father till July 9th, for contempt of court. The activist who is now said to be in Madurai Central Prison, argued that selling drugs through Tasmac is a crime. She has been spearheading an anti-liquor movement in the state with her father in which the duo raise awareness in public places regarding the negative effects of alcohol.
Nandhini has been arrested several times in the past for her protests. After protesting against a Tasmac outlet in 2014, she was asked to appear at Tirupattur court. During her appearance, she questioned the judge if liquor is a food item and said that selling drugs through TASMAC is a crime according to IPC 328. Following this, a contempt of court case was filed on both. Her wedding was scheduled on July 5th but she will now be behind bars till July 9th.
