Actor Dhanush and director Vetrimaran, had last collaborated in the raw gangster flick Vada Chennai, and before the release of the second installment of the trilogy, the actor - director combo have begun shooting for their quickie Asuran, produced by Kalaipuli S Thaanu's V Creations.

Asuran began shooting last month, and the shooting has been progressing well, with its second schedule currently set in Tirunelveli. As revealed earlier, critically acclaimed director Balaji Sakthivel has joined the shooting of Asuran, and from the stills from the location, he is seen playing a cop and it has been speculated that he's the antagonist.

Meanwhile, actor Pasupathi, who had previously acted with Dhanush in Sullan has also joined Asuran cast, and the actor is also participating in the second schedule alongside Balaji Sakthivel. Asuran is based on the popular novel Vekkai by Poomani, and stars Manu Warrier as the female lead, with GV Prakash scoring music.
