He never wanted to be an actor, but he is. He never wanted to sing, but he did. However, whatever actor Annu Kapoor took under his wings, he made sure he gave his 100 per cent to it. The actor will soon be seen in Rumi Jaffery’s movie 'Gali Gali Chor Hai' where he plays the role of a corrupt cop.

From 7 Khoon Maaf’s Inspector Keemant Lal to Gali Gali Chor Hai’s corrupt cop, the actor in Annu still remains simple and straight forward. Ask him what he would like to ask himself at this stage of life, and pat comes the reply, “Why have I been such an idiot?” A loud laugh and an explanation follows, “I have asked this question to myself because understanding and time is a part of very few lucky lives. When one has time then the understanding is not there and when you have the understanding then you don’t have the time. I honestly feel that there are a lot of things that I could have done, a lot of opportunity that I could have grabbed and a lot of moments I could have lived better.”

So has the time run out? “Now when I have understanding of things, I don’t have much time. I know I am no more a young man. And those who l aim that they are young at heart know it that they are old.”

It is surprising when he says this because if anyone was to meet this powerhouse actor, they would notice the unfizzled energy that has been the same for the 30 years of his acting career. In fact, his dancing with Veena Mallik in the item number of 'Gali Gali Chor Hai' proves it. “I represent the system and that part of the system that gets most of the limelight. The corrupt cops that is!” He was last seen playing a cop was 7 Khoon Maaf. “I never go back to my characters that I have played earlier. I always like to have a fresh approach to the characters I play. I go from character to character and from film to film.”
