'Anniyan' and Vikram claim top spot

1. Anniyan (Dir. Shankar): Though the story is a mix of Shankar's own "Gentleman" and "Indian", the treatment of the film is marvellous, as is the performance of Vikram.
2. Chandramukhi (Dir. P. Vasu): The movie sees a superb rendition by superstar Rajnikanth. It commanded the top slot for a long time before giving in to "Anniyan". But a second slot nowhere undermines the film's or its superstar's success and popularity.
3. Ullam Ketkume (Dir. Jeeva): A surprise hit. Though the movie took more than a year to see the light of day, youngsters seem to love it. It has given a new lease of life to actor Shaam. Arya has debuted well with this film, and his career seems to be looking up.
4. Arindum Ariyamalum (Dir. Vishnuvardhan): Another surprise hit, and more importantly another conquest in new actor Arya's kitty.
5. Kanaa Kanden (Dir. K.V. Anand): Though not a huge hit, this debut film by Anand is doing decent business in cities.
