Story
The film is set in a place called Victoriapuram and is about a tussle between two families headed by Diwakar(Rao Ramesh) and Prasad(Rajendra Prasad). Things change when Rishi(Santosh Soban) and Arya(Malavika Nair) who are born into these families fall in love. What kind of issues do they go through? How will the family feud create a gap between them? and how the family war comes to an end is the basic story of Anni Manchi Sakunamule.
Analysis
Nandini Reddy, who is known to make feel-good films has attempted a family drama that has a very thin storyline. The feud between two families, kids falling in love, then families fighting over love and property all these are stories done and dusted in time. Nandini Reddy gives the film a new look thanks to the good visuals and songs. Santosh Soban is lost in the crowd but does well in the second half.
One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is the dull romantic track. Nandini, who is known for her romantic films creates a weak romance between the lead pair. There are not many scenes that evoke glamor or romance. The chemistry between the lead pair should have also been a lot better. There is no novelty in the proceeding and the drama looks forced. The dialogues are decent and Malavika Nair is the one who steals the show with her performances
The music by Mickey J Meyer is very good. The production values of Swapna Cinema are majestic. It is because of the good visuals things make some sense. The film has a great supporting cast like Rajendra Prasad, Sowkar Janaki, and Gowtami, who do a wonderful job in their roles. Editing is the biggest villain of the film. The slow pace is a killer and takes forever to go into the main conflict.
The first half of the film has comedy and not much drama. But when you think the film will take more interest in the proceedings that does not happen. The climax has a few emotional moments but that is not enough to salvage the film. Anni Manchi Sakunamule has decent moments but the pacing is very slow. The entire film gives you a dejavu kind of feeling.
Verdict
On the whole, Anni Manchi Sakunamule has decent comedy, and passable emotions but lacks in the emotional aspect. It has a very low pace and lacks novelty. If you are the one who likes old school dramas give this film a shot but there is nothing new that has been showcased here.
