Superstar Rajinikanth, last seen on screen in Darbar, is back with a rural family entertainer 'Annaatthe'. This time he joins hands with Siruthai Siva who gave 3 blockbuster hits with Thala Ajith in the past. This is the 168th film of Thalaivar and it is produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures. 

Thalaivar is playing the role of a village head in the movie. The film also stars Meena, Khushbu, Nayanthara, and Keerthy Suresh as the female leads, and Jackie Shroff, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, and Vela Ramamoorthy in prominent roles. 

The music for the film will be composed by D. Imman while cinematography and editing are performed by Vetri and Ruben respectively. Annaatthe is locked for a theatrical release on Diwali on November 4 opposite to Thala Ajith's Valimai.
