The Tamil Nadu government on Friday extended the statewide Covid-19 lockdown yet again by a week, until June 21 with further relaxations in 27 districts. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Anna University has postponed the upcoming semester exams and re-exams.
The regular April/May semester exams for the academic year 2021 and the re-examinations for students who appeared for the December 2020 exams were originally scheduled to be conducted from June 14. Due to the extension of lockdown, Anna University has issued a new circular stating that all the exams for the engineering students have been postponed by a week to June 21. A notification from the controller of examinations read, “Due to Covid-19 pandemic, Tamil Nadu is under lockdown from June 7 to 14 and complete lockdown continues in 11 districts.”
The notification added, “Such a lockdown in most of the districts and complete lockdown in the 11 districts will make it impossible for the students to buy examination stationary and to visit post office/courier office to dispatch answer sheets. Considering these constraints and for the safety and welfare of the students, the re-examinations and semester examinations have been rescheduled and will commence from June 21.”
