Debutante director Thangam Saravanan's 'Anjala' has stuck in a controversy over the promotional song 'Tea Podu' that featured many Kollywood celebrities. An independent music band Mami Boys has alleged that the song is a complete rip-off of their 'Dum Tea' song which was released in 2013 as a tribute to tea shops. The band has also said that it will resort to legal recourse against the makers of the film.

However director Thangam Saravanan has refuted this allegation stating that 'Tea' was the only similarity between the two songs and the concept, music, lyrics, choreography and making were entirely different.

'Anjala' stars Vemal and Nandita in lead roles while Pasupathy has acted in a pivotal character. The film revolves around a tea shop and it is expected to hit the screens anytime soon. .
