Anisha Ambrose will be seen in a serious role in 'Okkadu Migiladu', the Nov 10th release. In this interview, she talks about her role in the movie, working with Manchu Manoj, getting a break, and more.

What is your role in the movie? We hear that 'OM' is a semi-period drama. So, where exactly does your character fit in?

I am playing a journalist. As is known, the story unfolds in two different time frames. One part is set in the 1990s and the narration has a role inspired by LTTE's Prabhakaran. On the other hand, the contemporary aspect of the story is set in the backdrop of a present-day set-up. It's here that my role comes in.

Manchu Manoj and your director Ajay Andrews seem to have felt very strongly about the subject. What is in store in the movie?

The film has no comedy tracks and songs. The perspective of Prabhakaran finds space in the movie. It's a serious-minded narration. The link between the past and the present is to be seen on the silver screen.

How was it working with Ajay?

He has done quite a remarkable work with respect to research. He spoke with the concerned stakeholders to record their experiences and emotions. Based on some real incidents, the film mirrors the reality as it happened. Some of the conversations that took place during Prabhakaran's times have been shown as they took place.

Does it mean that the film has no romantic track as such?

It's very much there. But the same is rather organic and subtle.

Which aspect of 'OM' has excited you the most?

The way the story has been narrated has impressed me a lot. One is inspired by the kind of research that has gone into writing and making this film. It's not often that films like these are made. Only those who have faith in the director's vision would be willing to do such films.

Going by 'OM', what kind of choices are you making in selecting movies these days?

Films like 'OM' are rare to come by. Commercial entertainers are always there. But realistic dramas are not made every day. So, I would want to be part of such movies if the script is good.

Do you feel sorry that you are yet to get a break?

I don't have any regrets. I have never felt sorry about not getting that break. I am doing scripts that I like.

How was it working with Manoj?

He has a domineering screen presence. When he is around, you don't notice others easily. His dialogue-delivery is perfect. He works really hard on his films.

It was reported that Censor Board had had some objections with respect to some scenes. Isn't it?

Yes. They did object to some scenes. But when the rationale was explained to them, they gave the green signal.

What are your upcoming movies?

I have done a Tamil movie of late. 'Vittalacharya' in Telugu is in the offing. There is another film which I am doing in Telugu.
