Anisha Ambrose, who waits the release of 'Fashion Designer S/o Ladies Tailor' on June 2, says in this interview that it's first-of-its-kind role for her. She also talks about Lakshmi Manchu's objection to the film's First Look, missing out on 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh', and more.

What is your character in the movie?

She comes to Papi Kondalu (where the film is set) from abroad. She loves the small village, but does not know its ways of life. She doesn't know how to wear a saree, etc. How she falls in love with the village is what it's about.

The film is about what would the Ladies' Tailor's son be doing were he to be living today.

From the trailer, it appears you are playing a very glamorous role. Are you keeping your fingers crossed?

It's true that I am playing a kind of role I hadn't played in the past. I accepted the role only because Vamsy garu is the director. I feel very lucky and blessed to have got to work with him.

I have always played only simple, everyday college-going girl types. In 'Fashion Designer', there is much romance about my role. I will be seen wearing shorts, Tees, etc. In real-life, I am conservative.

Since there are three girls in the movie, were there any ego clashes?

It's never like that. Why would there be cat fights and all? We were like a family on the sets.

As for the roles, all the three female characters have got equal importance. It was great working with Sumanth Ashwin, who is momre like a friend to me. I felt like I was doing a programme for a college fest.

The shooting experience must have been different, considering that it's set in the backdrop of a village.

Yes, it was a life-time experience. I was stationed in Papi Kondalu for seven days without access to mobile. There would be no network there.

Producer Sreedhar garu (Madhura Sreedhar Reddy) would take care of everything. He would never let us suffer an inconvenience. I can do ten films with him. He is a wonderful person to work with.

Did you dub for yourself?

I couldn't dub for myself as I was out of station.

On a lighter vein, why didn't you do it over WhatsApp?

(Laughs) Should technology make it happen, I will definitely do it some day.

Lakshmi Manchu raised objections regarding the film's First Look, saying it sexualized women. Following it, your producer withdrew the poster. What is your take?

She is someone I look up to. I am sure she has a valid reason about it. That said, the First Look suited the film well. Why we released it, you will understand when you watch the movie.

Was it a publicity stunt by the makers?

(Guffaws) Why are you asking me andi? How would I know it? In the First Look, the hero is seen with a measuring tape, but in the film, there is no such scene. He measures her with his eyes!

Coming to how you missed 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh', was it you who said no?

Why would I say no? Kajal (Aggarwal) was the best person to do it. While I was very happy that I got selected, I was also very nervous. When it's a new heroine, the pressure would be much more.

What kind of roles do you look forward to do? What are your upcoming movies?

I do a role if I think it suits me. I don't have any favourite characters as such. My next film is 'Okkadu Migiladu' with Manchu Manoj. It's a biopic on LTTE's Prabhakaran. As for others, I can't tell you right now because they are yet to be announced. I signed a film only yesterday.

Your final remarks before the release of 'Fashion Designer' on June 2.

I am very nervous. As I have played such a role for the first time, I think there will be some shock as far as the audience are concerned. I hope they will like me.
