Thalapathy Vijay starrer 'Varisu' is gearing up for release on Pongal 2023. The climax sequence is currently being shot in Hyderabad. Earlier, the bilingual film faced issues from the Tollywood producer council over the Telugu release which was then sorted out after a discussion.

Now, Varisu has landed in trouble again as the Animal Welfare Board of India sends a notice to the production house Sri Venkateswara Creations. The board mentioned in their notice that they had received a complaint regarding the usage of elephants in the movie's shooting without their permission.

The statement read, "The Board has received a complaint regarding illegal shooting of animals by M/s Venkateswara Creations using Elephants-5 without the pre-shoot permission from the Animal Welfare Board of India in Tamil Film "Varisu" which is the violation of Performing Animals (Registration) Rules, 2001 (as amended in 2002). The Board has not received the Pre-shoot application from you for Tamil Film "Varisu" till date." (sic)

Therefore, Animal Welfare Board demanded the movie team for an explanation by stating, "you are hereby directed to submit a full and comprehensive explanation on all the above violations made by you within 7 days of the receipt of the letter, failing which AWBI shall take any or all such action as it may deem to consider proper and necessary for the welfare of the animals." (sic)
