Brad Pitt's multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Angelina Jolie should be dropped, she is begging him to "end the fighting". Her attorney cautions, nevertheless, that should he fail, she is ready to expose proof Pitt allegedly "afraid" to have revealed.
In February 2022, Pitt sued Jolie for selling her half of their French winery, reportedly violating a verbal agreement for him to buy her out, therefore entangling the ex-couple in a legal dispute. Pitt's demand that Jolie sign a nondisclosure agreement prohibiting her from discussing his claimed physical and emotional abuse causes discussions to fall apart.
Calling them "highly relevant" to the case, Jolie's lawyers filed a motion in April seeking all of Pitt's third-party communications linked to a 2016 incident aboard their private plane. Pitt's attorneys asked the court to deny this motion, writing it off as a "sensationalist fishing expedition."
Paul Murphy, Jolie's attorney, said Pitt's NDA demand was meant to "punish and control" Jolie and hide his claimed misbehavior. Murphy also said that Jolie will gather required proof to support her claims until Pitt drops his complaint.
Pitt's lawyers responded that although he had offered to disclose documentation about the airplane event, Jolie turned down the offer and demanded more general communications including those pertaining to his therapy, drug and alcohol tests, and attempts at self-improvement post-incident.
October 2022 saw public disclosure of specifics of the 2016 airplane incident, with Jolie claiming Pitt verbally and physically mistreated her and their children throughout flight. Five days following the episode, Jolie filed for divorce.
Married in 2014 following ten years together, the couple were declared legally single in 2019 but have not finalized their divorce. Together they have six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox. According to a source close to the couple, "both sides are still talking," but the divorce processes remain unresolved.
