It is almost a year since VIP, but the josh is yet to fade. And now, the actor is back to the big screens with the competent ever filmmaker, in a completely out-of-the-box story. 'Anegan' is a film that involves love from many time periods, sandwiching into a power beyond ordinary. Trust KV Anand for a thoroughly entertaining story, and Dhanush to ensure acting par excellence. Gear up for an experience like never before!

Story:

The film opens in Burma, many years ago, with Samudra (Amyra) falling in love with Murugesan (Dhanush). Circumstances tear them apart, but decades later Madhumitha (Amyra), allegedly the reincarnation of Samudra, has glimpses of the past. She meets people who are rebirths of the ones she moved closely with, in what she believes to be her previous birth in Burma. Eventually, Madhu meets Ashwin (Dhanush), reincarnation of Murugesan. But is it only about the love that survives time, and joins hands in the next birth? Or, are all her dreams about the hallucinations from use of drugs? Will it help solve real mysteries? Watch the movie to find out.

Cast:

Dhanush chooses not by heroism, but by story. And hence, trust him when the man who went unflinchingly through 33 scripts, has chosen to nod to KV Anand. 'Anegan' casts him in multiple roles - each for every time period that the film casts him in; and he makes his presence deeply felt - be it the wage worker with the mind of a precise engineer, or even the knight in the heroine's dreams. Amyra is paired with Dhanush in all those eras, but the performance of hers that stands out the most is as Madhumitha. It is quite a task to behave quirky and also come across as being honest in the same package; as Madhu, she manages to get her levels insanity impact you straight out of the screen. And bow down to Karthik! Madhu's boss Kiran, like every other character, Karthik also has a role in one of the stories of the work-stressed heroine. But in every scene, Karthik justifies why he is hailed as being extraordinary.

Picture:

Film by KV Anand, so rest assured for the visuals, as they are undoubtedly world class.  Credit goes to Om Prakash to have highlighted each era with the complimenting tinge of colour, and for recreating the heroine's dreams as how it really is dreamt. Given the multilayered story, the screenplay takes many twists and confusing turns. But in the end, that's what ensures to glue you to the seat. With mystery at every level, the screenplay makes you want to wait and watch. Thanks to Anthony for putting it all together crisply.

Music:

Everyone is addicted to the album, and Harris keeps the josh intact in the theatres as well. However songs are quite a many, which acts as friction to the flow of story. Background score is refreshing and racy, making the movie experience enjoyable.

What could have been better:

Though narrated as convincingly as possible, the heroism fails to hail as high as aimed, owing to what you could fairly see coming up.

1. At every twist of suspense, you end up concluding the next move, predictably. However, story at large remains concealed.

2. A lot of songs in the first half dilutes interest

3. Graphics ib the scene of accident and climax could have been polished better.

What comes as surprise:

The moments to cherish in the movie, span farther than the much awaited 'Danga Maari'. The song is worth the wait, alright, but there are other portions that treat us equally happy.

1. Picturing of songs are classy

2. Action sequences are complete and logical. Also, unnecessary fight possibilities are avoided, saving peace.

3. Despite the absence of a dedicated comedy track, there are many a light moments.

4. Dialogues are precise - Subha has nailed it!

5. Look out for the scene where Dhanush gets back at Karthik.

Although not a masala perse, 'Anegan' savours all tastes. There is action, a little bit of revenge, lighthearted comedy, smothering love, all served with a twist from the usual.

Rating: 3.0/5

Verdict: Love of a long, long time, finally complete in action.

Rating: 0 / 5.0
