A man has been arrested for killing his 19-year-old wife who posted videos on the popular video-sharing app TikTok, despite his disapproval.
The incident happened in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada. Siddala Chinna Nasaraiah and Gorrapati Suvartha had been married for five years and they have a two-year-old daughter. Ever since TikTok became famous, the woman had been frequently using the app, much to the displeasure of her husband. He allegedly warned her not to use it, but she left her daughter at her parents' house and went to stay in a hostel in Guntur, where she was making several videos for TikTok.
Her husband then managed to convince her and bring her back home on November 14. After plotting her murder for three days along with his brother, he strangled her with a piece of cloth on the night of November 17, took her to a cremation ground in a two-wheeler that his brother was driving, and burned her body. The investigation began when a local reported finding a burnt unidentified body in the area.
After identifying the body of the woman, police scanned the CCTV footage of a neighbouring petrol pump, which showed Nasaraiah being the only person to buy a can of petrol that night. Following interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime and was then arrested.
