In a shocking incident reported from Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool, a 20-year-old girl allegedly threw acid on her former boyfriend after he got married to another woman.

The woman, who hails from the Peddakottala village in Kurnool district, has been booked by the Nandyal police late Thursday night. The incident allegedly happened earlier that day when the victim was riding his bike around the village. Speaking to media, the girl reportedly said, "It's been three years. We are in love and earlier I asked him if his parents will accept our relationship. He said he will marry me even if his parents don't accept our relationship. Now he married another woman and is again approaching me to stay with him. He also spoke with my parents, relatives and assured them that he will marry me. He cheated me, I left my college for him for three years, I lost my respect in my village, so I poured acid on him." The boy, who was immediately rushed to the Nandyal government general hospital, is currently undergoing treatment and his condition is said to be stable. He reportedly said, "She poured acid on me while I was riding my bike in Peddakottala village. Earlier we broke up due to caste issues, she belongs to SC caste and I belong to BC caste. She also accepted my request for the breakup and said she will marry another person. I got married ten days ago and yesterday she poured acid on me."

A case has been registered against the 20-year-old girl under Section 326-A (The Punishment for Acid Attacks) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation of the matter is currently in progress.
