Lauding the Telangana police for the encounter of the four accused rapists in Disha's case, Andhra CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has guaranteed that his government would table a bill in the ongoing session of the Legislature for laws to ensure speedy trial of cases involving crimes against women.

"Following media reports about the gangrape incident, soon the government reacted. I'm saying hats off to Telangana CM KCR and Telangana police officers right here in the House. The encounter took place in unexpected circumstances," the CM said. Mocking the National Human Rights Commission for opposing the encounters, he stated, "An encounter took place. If the same thing happens in a film, where a hero chases and encounters someone, won't we clap and celebrate? But in real life, if anyone who has the guts does the same, what happens is someone called National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) comes down from Delhi and questions saying its wrong, and why and how it happened. This is the pathetic condition our legislatures are in today."

Promising to introduce a Bill in the ongoing session of the legislature to enact a strong law to ensure speedy trial of cases of atrocities against women with the appropriate punishment, he further added, "The recent incidents of atrocities against women and girls made me plan to bring out a new legislation wherein any crime with conclusive evidence will be handled in such a way that its investigation, including obtaining DNA report, is to be completed in a week and the trial to be carried out in dedicated courts in the second week while justice is to be delivered in an expeditious manner in the third week. We have to ensure justice is delivered to the victims and to their family members in 21 working days from the day of commitment of the crime and award capital punishment to the culprits."
