Actor-turned-politician Anandaraj has asserted that he would surely appear before the Justice Arumuga Swamy-led Commission of Inquiry constituted by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu to inquire into the mysterious circumstances preceding last December’s demise of former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa.
Anandaraj, who continues to star in films and is best known for his cameo in superstar Rajinikanth’s colossal hit film Baashhaah in mid-nineties, is an ardent supporter of ‘Puratchithalaivi’ J. Jayalalithaa who enrolled himself with the erstwhile AIADMK several years back. After Jayalalithaa’s demise, he aligned himself with neither of the factions and continues to stay away from the party.
He, however, raised doubts over Jayalalithaa’s untimely demise especially after Apollo Hospitals’ medical bulletins a few days before Jayalalithaa was declared as ‘dead’ said that she had been doing very well and was on the road to recovery. He also objected to Sasikala, former aide of the former chief-minister, attempting to take over the party first and then the Govt. led by it.
Speaking to newsmen yesterday, Anandaraj said that he would appear before the Commission of Inquiry to depose about what he knew about the demise of his ‘Puratchithalaivi’. He also added that he would contest the polls as and when the much-awaited interim polls to the Assembly are held.
