The producer of biggest hit Kannada film ‘Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna’ a historical film starring challenging star Darsha, Dr Jayaprada, Nikita and 30 plus senior actors in Naganna direction – Anand Appugol was arrested in Mumbai by CCB police at Panwel.
Anand Appugol chairman of Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Cooperative bank collected deposits from the people and found missing for some time.
On Monday he was produced to 3rd JMF Court and remanded to judicial custody for four days by Justice Sandeep Reddy.
An FIR was filed at Khadebazaar police station against Anand Appugol by depositors for cheating. The branches of the bank were also closed down created worries for lakhs of depositors with crores of rupees as deposits.
It is estimated that Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna cooperative bank has 20 branches and deposit of Rs.150 crores is estimated.
The anticipatory bail of Anand Appugol was rejected by the District and session court on September 5. On producing to the court Anand Appugol fell down in shock.
Another case of Khasnis Brothers is also similar and they are imprisoned. They floated Harsha Entertainment Finance Company at Kalagatagi of Dharwad district and had collected more than Rs 450 crore deposits from more than 8000 people by offering seven per cent to eight per cent interest per month.
One fine day, the trio absconded pulling down the shutters of the office and the depositors, who realized being cheated, staged agitation demanding the Police to arrest the cheaters and get back their deposited amount. Khasanis brothers from Dharwad announced 10 films in a row and all of them are unfinished. They are now in the prison.
