Tollywood is caught in a pincer attack. On the one hand, the Bollywood babe brigade is making rapid advances here. And on the other, the heroines from Tamil films are trying to prove a point here.

Suddenly there has been an invasion of sorts from Tamil here.

Interestingly (and ironically) not all heroines from Tamil films are Tamil girls actually. But that would be small crumb of solace for Tollywood.

Anyway, the girls who have come via Tamil are Nila (Meera Chopra) who is currently acting in Bangharam.

She is doing a Tamil film with S J Suryah (of Kushi fame). Then there is Laxmi Rai (Kanchanamala Cable TV). Her Tamil film Karka Kasadara has just been released.

Then there is Sonia Agarwal who is to be cast alongside Venkatesh in a film to be directed by Selvaraghavan. Shireen, who has been trying unsuccessfully for a spalsh in Telugu since Juniors, comes back with Krishna Vamsi's Danger.

Of course, amidst all this there are the likes of Jyothika, Nayantra, Asin, Gopika who keep balancing between Tamil and Telugu.

So where are the real Telugu heroines? And, more importantly, are there any left?
