Director Lal Jose recently narrate an incident which revealed how a question asked by director/actor/producer Lal has changed the prospects of Classmates`, an all-time-favorite campus story in Mollywood.

It happened after a few flops, especially after Rasikan` Lal Jose was at low ebb and back to square one. At this juncture, James Albert from Kollam met Lal Jose with a campus story and the director was quite impressed with it. After working out the script they contacted Lal to enquire whether his distribution company will distribute it. Lal heard the story and opined that the story is good especially in the beginning and the end. But the middle portion is not something that is expected from Lal.

This made them rethink about it and decided to stop the project until changes are made. They had planned the story in the backdrop of hi-tech engineering college campus in Bangalore. This was quite an unfamiliar setting for them as the director and screen play writer studied in campuses in Kerala. The scenarist took almost one and half years to rework it and come with a fresh one enriched with their experiences from their campus life.
