Playing the character of a Carnatic musician calls for a lot of nuances.

One has to understand the niceties of the language and music to get the finer points of the role right. Only big names like Chiranjeevi have got it right.

So cast a macho man, known for his action and romance, calls for conviction and a giant leap of faith.

Director Suresh Krishna has taken that leap. Otherwise he wouldn't have cast Jackie Shroff as a musician in his film.

Titled Asthram, the movie stars Vishnu and Anushka in the leads. However, the highlight would Jackie’s cameo and he has been cast as a Carnatic musician.

Suresh Krishna accepts it is a gamble but he also says Jackie will vindicate his belief in him.

Produced by Raju Hirwani of Supreme audio, Ashtram has music by S.A. Rajkumar The audio of the film is likely to hit stands in March while the film will release in April.
