Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph's movie Drishyam 2 was a major hit on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video and had also recently hit Television screens for the first time. If the ratings are anything to go by, fans seem to have lapped the movie by bagging the third-highest premiere in Malayalam TV history.
Months after it premiered on TV and digital platforms worldwide, the movie is now all set to be screened in theatres. Reportedly, Drishyam 2 is expected to release on June 26 at multiplexes in Singapore. UAE distributor Phars Films Group will release the movie in Singapore. “Due to public demand, we took this call to release this film in the theatres here. Our audiences here are eager to watch it on the big screen. In the past, we remember releasing films such as Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Sholay’ and Charlie Chaplin’s films more than once in the UAE theatres,” said Ahmad Golchin, CEO Of The Phars Film Group. It is reported that the film will be screened at the Golden Village Cineplex, Singapore's largest multiplex chain.
Drishyam 2 is the sequel to Drishyam, directed by Jeethu Joseph. The thriller is about a middle-class man Georgekutty and his loving family who try to cover up a murder, mistakenly done their teenage daughter. The sequel continues the story of Georgekutty’s family six years after they were embroiled in the murder case. The remakes of the second part in Telugu and Hindi have already been announced.
