Amrutha Varsham

The name Amrutha Varsham is a very positive and energizing. So will be the film of the same name.

A remade/dubbed venture of the Kannada blockbuster Amrutha Dhare, Amrutha Varsham is a love story with a difference. And the director, Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar, doesn't say this for effect.

Indeed it is a very positive film, one with a reassuring message. That is why Amitabh Bachchan himself had made a cameo appearance in the movie.

The film has been a huge hit, and that is why P Kiran of Anandi Arts is bringing the film to Telugu. That he is very serious of the venture can be reflected in the fact that he has chosen to re-shoot many portions in Telugu to get the feel and flavor right for the locals.

Chandrasekhar, literary man --- he taught literature in a college in Bangalore for 15 years, took up direction after learning the nuances in Hollywood.

Samir Dattani and Ramya have given vision to his positive ideas. The two youngsters have done a brilliant job of their characters, the director says. That is why Kiran has also retained their portions in the remake while re-shooting other content with the likes of. Jayasudha, Nasser, Dharamavarapu Subrahmanyam and Sunil.

The songs composed by Mano Murthy have been retained while one more, set to tunes by Kalyani Malik, has been added.

Chandrasekhar himself has re-shot the Telugu portions.

The director says Amrutha Varsham is a compromise between an art and a commercial movie. `In that it will have the good qualities of both,' he says. The story is of a courageous girl who fights the heavy odds of life. The story takes off from a real life incident.

Both Samir and Ramya have given their best, says the direct.

Amitabh's cameo is another highlight. `We needed a legend to convey a strong message. And so we naturally went for Amitabh,' the director says of his choice.

The legend of Indian films was so impressed by the message that he did not take any money to act in the role. His is a brief appearance for six minutes, and he speaks his dialogues in English.

Amrutha Varsham will release in July.
