Geetha, a close friend of former Tamil Nadu chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa, has asserted that she has every reason to believe that Bangalore-based Amrutha might be the daughter born to Jayalalithaa and late Tollywood actor Sobhan Babu.

Bangalore-based Amruth has claimed that she is the daughter of the late chief-minister and says that she was informed about it only a few months ago by her adopted father who revealed the ‘truth’ in his dying moments. Geetha was among the first to call for a judicial inquiry soon after Jayalalithaa was declared ‘dead’ by the Apollo Hospitals on the night of 05th December last year.

Amrutha knocked Supreme Court’s doors requesting it to declare that she was the ‘actual’ daughter of the late chief-minister and requested for conducting DNA test of herself and her late ‘mother’. The apex Court, however, advised her to first approach lower Courts. Jayalalithaa’s cousin sister Lalithaa too endorsed Amrutha’s views and said her mother, in fact, helped Jayalalithaa during the labour period.

Amrutha is said to be in safe custody of Ranjani Ravindran, a distant relative of the former chief-minister. Speaking to a regional television news channel, Geetha asserted that Amurtha was born to Jayalalithaa and Sobhan Babu. “Everyone close to Jayalalithaa including Sasikala is aware of it. Only a DNA test can establish the truth. I don’t think Amrutha wants to claim her mother’s properties; she only wants her identity to be established,” Geetha said during the interview.
