Film actress Amrita Singh is set to make her television debut in Balaji Telefilms' forthcoming serial "Kul", reports Bollywood Trade.

Amrita Singh is said to have been signed at an unheard of price for the serial, scheduled to begin on STAR Plus in January.

"I cannot talk about the finances, but it is true that Amrita Singh's television debut will be something to talk about," said Shobha Kapoor, director of Balaji Telefilms.

"We are ensuring that the soap will be the talk of the town when it goes on air."

Amrita Singh was reportedly offered an exceptional price by Sony Entertainment Television as well for its comedy series "Mausi Ka Aangan", being directed by Anand Mahendroo.

But it was STAR Plus which managed to sign an exclusive contract with the actress.

According to Kapoor, Amrita Singh will work exclusively for the channel for the next year.

"We will soon start a major promotional campaign for the soap," Kapoor said.
