This Telugu remake of Tamil hit "April Maathathil" brings out the best from poorly rated woman composer Srilekha.
She uses this opportunity by producing some soulful tunes besides repeating a hit number from the original.
The album opens with the melodious title song "Ammayi bagundi..." This is followed by the catchy "Kale kannanule" sung by Madhu Balakrishnan.
Ace singers Udit Narayan and Chitra elevate the fast-paced number "Krishna Krishna..." to a different plane with their delightful rendering.
Side B opens with "Paatala pallakilo..." Sung by Chitra, it is an interesting and charming essay in film fusion music. It ends, rather unexpectedly, with a Thyagaraja devotional song, "Samaja vara".
Next comes the pulse-quickening duet "Arey sathiya", with a matching lyric, rendered by Kartick and Sabitar Reddy.
Last but not the least is the folk number "Harilo ranga hari..." Sung by Sukhvinder and Malathi, it is the second best in the album.
After "Ammayi Bagundi", we may hear more of - and from - Srilekha.
