Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Chopra, Hirani - the winners speak

Bollywood ruled at the fifty seventh national awards that where announced yesterday by Ramesh Sippy. ‘Paa’ and ‘3 Idiots’ bagged the major categories.

Here is what the winners have to say about their national triumph –

Mr. Amitabh Bachchan on ‘Paa’ bagging four awards including the best actor for the thespian who with his act again distinguished the difference between an actor and a legend, Mr. Bachchan says, “I thank the Government of India and the National Awards committee for this great honour. ‘Paa’ has bagged 4 National Awards, including Best Hindi Film, Best Supporting Actress by Arundhati Nag and Best Make-up by Mr. Chrisiten Tinsley & Ms. Dominie Till and I congratulate all of them for winning this prestigious award. I especially thank R. Balki - a gifted Director whose exceptional vision and passion has created this wonderful film, Abhishek - who took complete charge of the project as the producer and Natasha & Dakshina for their valuable assistance on the make-up. Also a big thanks to Reliance for joining hands with us! This is an important success for AB Corp Ltd and the entire cast and crew who have helped make such a brilliant movie.”

Vinod Chopra Films' ‘3 Idiots’ got the most popular film award. This is the third time that Raj Kumar Hirani the director and Vinod Chopra producer has won a national award for their third consequent film. Munnabhai series have also won a national award.

Vinod Chopra says, “Its an over whelming feeling; have just returned from US, where I was working for pre production of my next and I landed here two days back and I get welcomed with such an overwhelming news. It’s really a proud moment for our production house.

Raj Kumar Hirani says, It’s an extremely humbly when the audience has loved and cherished this film so much and now we are also getting recognized by getting a national award.

Reliance Big Pictures grabbed 14 national awards - highest ever for a production house in one year.

Sanjeev Lambha of Reliance Big Pictures said, “We are extremely delighted that 4 films produced and one film released have won an unprecedented 14 national awards this year. This singular honour and I would like to congratulate the extraordinary talent that has worked with us to make this honor possible.”

UTV and Rakyesh Om Prakash Mehra's ‘Delhi 6’ has got best integration film and best art direction.

Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra says, Am very happy that Delhi 6 has got recognition at the national awards. The reason we had made this film was that the land suffers from integration; lack of understanding between religions and we have got recognised for the same is a very overwhelming feeling.
