Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was recently featured in an advertisement for a pan masala brand. The advert glorifies the consumption of tobacco and influences youngsters of the country to take up this habit. Due to this, Big B's fans have expressed their displeasure and urged the actor to not be a part of such campaigns. In recent years, teenagers and young adults have become the target consumers for cigarettes and tobacco and involvement of huge stars like Ajay Devgan, Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in marketing campaigns can have negative impact on youth.
Now according to latest developments, National Organization for Eradication of Tobacco has urged Big B to drop from his campaign of promoting tobacco. President of the organisation, Shekhar Salkar wrote a letter to Mr Bachchan which read, "As an oncologist and member of an NGO working in the field of tobacco cessation, I am aggrieved and provoked to wage war against the dubious measures, such embellishment done by various influential and famous Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh and Hritik Roshan, leading to increasing tobacco use among students."
The letter also stated how pan masala consumption is proven to be harmful for health especially for youngsters.
