Filmaker R Balki is known for shocking his audience with his mindboggling innovations. If in CHEENI KUM` he presented an older Amiatbh Bachchan struggling to match matrimonial alliance with Tabu, in PAA` he made the audience wonderstruck by casting Amiatbh Bachchan as a 12-year-old boy with an extremely rare genetic disorder called progeria.
And yet again, with his latest movie SHAMITABH, R Balki has done the impossible! Readers may wonder what! Well, R Balki has succeeded in bringing the charismatic Jodi of Amtabh Bachchan and Rekha together, a feat which no filmmaker has been able to achieve in the last 33 years!
The superstar Amitabh Bachchan and ageless beauty Rekha were last seen together in Yash Chopra`s love triangle SILSILA (1981) and will now reunite for R Balki`s SHAMITABH.
The secret has been revealed by Tamil superstar Dhanush, who shared a picture of himself with Rekha and plays the protagonist in the movie.
Though it is still a killing suspense whether Amiatbh Bachchan and Rekha have shared screen together or not yet the fact that Rekha is starring in an Amiatbh Bachchan movie is in itself is like breeze of fresh air for millions of Amiatbh Bachchan and Rekha fans who have dying to see their film since umpteen years.
Amiatbh Bachchan and Rekha came together for the first time in NAMAK HARAAM (1973) but in this film Rekha played heroin of Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan played an anti hero role.
However the duo came together first time as lead pair in DO ANJAANE (1976). After this they did many films together ALAAP (1977), IMMAAN DHARAM (1977), KHOON PASINA (1977), GANGA KI SAUGANDH (1978), MUQADDAR KA SIKANDER (1978), MR NATWARLAL (1979) AND SUHAAG (1979) and SILSILA was their last movie.
