Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna starrer 'Anand' is one of the most iconic and era defining films of 70s Bollywood. It's been around five decades since the film came out and now it is all set to get a modern remake. Filmmakers Sameer Raj Sippy, who is grandson of N.C. Sippy (original producer of 'Anand'), and Vikram Khakhar have decided to adapt this iconic film against the backdrop of post pandemic world.
Vikram Khakhar said in a statement, "Digging into our own classics, we will find invaluable gems rather than scouting for stories, Internationally or Regionally. Placing Anand in the post Covid era, where we emphasise on the value of life, will enhance the story of Anand."
Sameer, on the other hand, stated, "Keeping in mind the sensibilities of the original film and the emotions attached, I felt the current generation needs to be retold the many stories that are so relevant today and specially when there is a great appetite for good content."
