Recently, the Big Daddy of Bollywood had been in Chennai to specially screen his film ‘Paa’ to his favourite maestro Ilaiyaraaja.

A great admirer of Ilaiyaraaja, Amitabh Bachchan is said to have high praises for the South metro. The actor called him a great genius and said that he was fortunate to have worked with him.

Bachchan is said to have been especially impressed with south’s work culture. “It’s always a pleasure to come to Chennai. I admire the culture and discipline here, which I am sorry to say, is not prevalent in Mumbai. The amount of creativity and freshness that the south Indian artistes and technicians bring to film making is commendable. People here are highly progressive,” quoted Big B.

The remarkable actor has innumerable distinguished movies in his 40 years old career. Although a biggie of north, the actor revealed that he also shares good rapport with the southern cine industry. “I am almost half Tamil. I may be from the city of Mumbai, but I am also a product of south India,” remarked Bachchan. Being a global star icon, it is surprising that the actor has not stepped into the dialect before. Said Big B, “I know that people here want me to act in a Tamil film. But Paa is nothing short of a Tamil film. As you all know, the director of the film R Balki, music director Ilaiyaraaja, cinematographer PC Sreeram and actress Vidya Balan, all hail from the state. Working with them was a great honour,” he said.
