BJP’s national president Amit Shah has finally opened up on the allegations of corruption and irregularities leveled against his son Jay Shah by the print media and various other political parties during the past week or so.
In an investigative article carried by the online journal ‘The Wire’, it had been accused that Jay Shah’s Temple Enterprises had registered a whopping 16,000 times profit as compared to the previous year’s profit during 2015 after the Narendra Modi-led BJP took over at the Centre. It may also be recalled that the Prime Minister and the party president have been close friends for many years now.
Congress and other opposition parties have defended the resignation of Shah as BJP president owning up moral responsibility for his son’s business misadventures wherein his company had ‘amassed’ wealth to the tune of several crores before winding up. Speaking to a private television channel, Shah asked his interviewer to go to Court if he possessed any proof to prove his son’s indulgence in corruption or crime.
“There was no room for corruption as Jay was involved in commodity trading which has fluctuating fortunes. All transactions were transparent and were made through cheques, thus obviating the possibility of financial irregularities. He only received usual loans from Banks to further his business interest. He wasn’t given favour by any Bank or financial institution,” Amit Shah reiterated in that interview.
