BJP president Amit Shah, under fire from his own party for not owning up ‘responsibility’ for the party’s debacle in the just-concluded Assembly polls in the Sttes of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, has appointed party conveners for 17 States to oversee the election work/arrangements for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls scheduled to be held in April/May next year.
As party of the party’s initiative in taking effective steps to ensure that the party repeats its 2014 performance of winning more than 300 (out of 544) Lok Sabha seats on its own, Amit Shah appointed party observers for 17 States in the first phase.
Conveners and co-conveners have been appointed. The trio of Goverahan Jadhapia, Narottam Mishra and Dushyant Gautham would be taking on the might of the BSP-SP combine in the politically volatile State of Uttar Pradesh. Union Ministers Prakash Javdekar and Davarchand Gehlot have been appointed as conveners of the party affairs in the States of Rajasthan and Uttarakhand respectively (in that order).
Bhpnender Yadav (Bihar), Anil Jain (Chhattisgarh), Rajya Saha M.P. Muraleedhara and Deodar Rao (Andhra Pradesh), Mahendra Singh (Assam) and O.P. Mathur (Gajarat) are the other prominent conveners. Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Punjab, Telangana and Sikkam have also got conveners.
