Ambulance Kills 5 in Bangalore

Bangalore: In a tragic incident, a family of 5 were killed near Yelahanka at 12:30 am when an ambulance which jumped the median overturned on the opposite lane causing the car to crash into it. Dhruv Dey aged 14, was in the car with his parents, Deepankar Dey and Swagatha Choudhury, his grandmother and aunt. They were going to the airport to drop off his grandmother, Jayati Choudhury, and his aunt, Sujaya Choudhury. The members were returning home as the flight was delayed to 6:30 am. It was on the way back that they hit the ambulance which had overturned on their lane. The police said: “All the victims are from West Bengal, we have contacted their family members.”
The adults died on the spot while Dhruv died on the way to the hospital. The ambulance driver Channabasappa was not carrying any patient in his vehicle. The nurse and driver have survived the accident. The driver who has sustained injuries will be taken into custody after recovery. He has been booked for death due to negligence, rash and negligent driving.
