Ambiguous Sukumar leaves you confused

Speaking at the 'Thank You' meet of 'Rangasthalam', Sukumar was all praise for Ram Charan and his stunning performance. Like the rest of us, the director is no less amazed.
However, he went a step ahead. Sukumar almost boasted that the Mega Power Star had "never done a film with a characterization" before 'Rangasthalam'. "I want to tell this secret which nobody knows. But I need an assurance from Charan that he will continue to love me even after I say it.
There is a logic at play here. Charan had never done a film with a characterization. In 'Orange', the characterization was rather subtle. So, I believed that he will do wonders if offered a characterization-based role," Sukumar said.
Whether or not Charan understood what his director was talking about, we haven't. What about 'Magadheera', a textbook example of a mind-blowing characterization? What about 'Dhruva'?
In all probability, Sukumar meant to say atypical characterization, in which case we may quite come to agree with him to an extent. But then, ambiguity is unwelcome.
