Decision to retire was an emotional one: Rayudu comes out of retirement

Ambati Rayudu had announced retirement from all formats of cricket in July after failing to make it to the Indian squad for the World Cup 2019. The sudden decision stunned everyone and it was apparent that Rayudu had chosen to do so after Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal were taken in as replacements for Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar, who had to leave the tournament due to injury. Rayudu had sarcastically posted a tweet about watching the World Cup with 3-D glasses on as the BCCI had preferred Vijay Shankar over him.
58 days after he made the announcement, the batsman has retracted his statement and has made himself available for selection, claiming that he still had enough cricket left in him. The e-mail he sent to HCA's CoA on Thursday read, "I want to take this opportunity to thank Chennai Super Kings, VVS Laxman and Noel David, who have been very supportive during the tough time and are instrumental in making me realise that I have enough cricket left in me. I am looking forward to a wonderful season ahead with a very talented Hyderabad team and help the team realise its full potential. I will be available from September 10 to join the Hyderabad team."
Following this, the HCA CoA sent out a release saying, "This is to inform you that Ambati Rayudu has withdrawn his announcement of retirement and has made himself available for the shorter format of the game for HCA in 2019-20."
