Amazon Web Services commits to invest Rs 20,761 Cr in Hyderabad

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is in the news for committing to making an investment of USD 2.77 billion in Hyderabad. This is the biggest FDI in the history of the young State of Telangana.
The cloud computing arm of Amazon.com will be investing the said amount in its second cloud infrastructure region in the country. "Happy to announce the largest FDI in the history of Telangana! After a series of meetings, AWS has finalized investment of Rs 20,761 Cr ($ 2.77 billion) to set up multiple data centers in Telangana. The AWS Hyderabad region is expected to be launched by mid-2022," Industry & Commerce Minister KT Rama Rao said on Friday.
The Minister further said that AWS choosing the capital city as its preferred destination speaks volumes about the Telangana government and also the transparency in the system. "This investment further strengthens relationship Telangana enjoys with Amazon," he added.
This comes about a year after Amazon inaugurated its largest campus in Hyderabad. The campus is going to employ more than 15,000 employees.
