Amazon is all set to enter the food delivery business. Reportedly, the e-commerce giant is ready with an investment of Rs 3,500 Cr (just in the first round) to give the market players Zomato and Swiggy, among others, a run for their money.
It's learned that the food delivery app will be launched around Diwali in India. Amazon is gearing up with solid marketing strategies. It is billed to make alluring offers in order to sway customers away from the current players.
As per a report, Amazon will charge restaurants just 1/4th of what its competitors are billing as commission. Prime customers will get orders delivered for free.
In the long run, only one delivery company is expected to dominate the market. The No. 2 player will be nothing compared to the No. 1 player, an expert says.
