Reports of Amazon chairman and billionaire Jeff Bezos secretly dating a married woman, who was a former TV anchor, have surfaced hours after he announced his split from wife MacKenzie after 25 years of marriage.

The pair jointly put out a statement about their divorce on Wednesday in social media, which read, “After a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared life as friends. We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.”

The couple got engaged after three months of dating and married shortly after, in 1993. A year later, Bezos founded Amazon. Together, they have three sons and an adopted daughter.

Incidentally, the divorce would make MacKenzie  the world’s richest woman if she receives half the Bezos fortune, meaning, the global wealth ranking could be reshaped as a result of this. The title is currently held by L’Oreal owner Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, whose net worth is estimated at $45.6 billion.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Jeff Bezos is allegedly in a romantic relationship with Lauren Sanchez, the wife of an entertainment industry agent.
