Amala Paul on Monday surrendered before the Crime Branch in Tiruvanathapuram regarding tax evasion allegations filed against her under the sections 420, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code. Last year, she had bought a luxury car worth over Rs. 1 Cr and had registered it in Puducherry, allegedly using forged documents of a fake address. Thereby, she evaded a tax of Rs. 20 lakhs in Kerala.
The tax evasion offense is a non-bailable one and though the 'Dongodocchadu' actress approached the Kerala High Court for an anticipatory bail, the judge ordered her to appear in person to the CB before it holds a hearing.
The interrogation is going on and when Amala arrived at the premises, she refused to answer newsmen gathered there.
