Actor Alva Vasu passes Away

Popular comedy actor Alva Vasu has passed away at a private hospital in Madurai last night.
Alva Vasu has acted in more than 900 films. He started his career as an Assistant Director to Manivannan in the film 'Amaidhipadai'. In that film he acted in a small but notable role with Sathyaraj. In the cult classic political satire, Vasu comes as the person who supplies Halwa mixed with a narcotic substance to Sathyaraj film and that's why the Alva became a prefix to his name. Then he went on to act in many films in comedy based roles. In the late 90s and 2000s Vasu was seen in many films as a part of Vaigaipuyal Vadivelu's comedy troupe. He was last seen playing a serious character in director Vetrimaran's 'Visaranai' which was nominated by the Indian Government for the Oscar Awards in 2016.
Alva Vasu suffered from liver failure and he has been getting treated for long. On Wednesday his condition became critically ill. Now he has breathed his last after losing his struggle for life. Vasu is survived by wife Amudha and daughter Krishna Jayanthika.
