Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor is gradually evolving as an actor and his recent choice of films also reflects the same. Earlier he used to play relatable coming of age characters while now a days he is gravitating towards more commercial and heroic roles. In a recent promotional interview for 'Shamshera', Ranbir said that he has always wanted to be an aspirational actor.
He told The Indian Express, “I think it was a natural progression. I had to leave relatable roles behind. I did those roles because I was at a certain age and had the opportunity to play those parts. But andar se I always wanted to play the hero and I don’t think I have played the hero yet. I have played relatable roles, not aspirational roles. So, it was a no brainer when I was offered Shamshera.”
Ranbir added, "And leaving aside the joy of playing the hero, the approach was ok, but it is a great script again, as much as Barfi was or Sanju was, the Sanjay Dutt biopic that I did. This was a great script also catering to a larger audience. It had an array of emotions, it had amazing characters, some amazing action sequences, it is the big ticket larger than life film."
'Shamshera' is all set to release theatrically on 22nd of July.
