Pushpa starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna has been in the news for one reason or the other ever since it was announced. After Vijay Sethupathi didn't accept the antagonist role, the makers have brought Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil on board for the part. Recently, the film's teaser 'Introducing Pushpa Raj' was released to a humongous response and the latest we hear is that the film is being postponed due to the second outbreak of Covid-19.
"A schedule in Hyderabad has been wrapped up and the makers are planning to leave for Kerala to shoot major portions of Pushpa. Given the spike in Covid-19 cases in the state, they have now halted their plans. As these portions take longer than expected, chances are bleak for the film to release on August 13," says a source close to the development.
The makers are now considering either Vijayadasami (Dasara) or mid-December as the new release date. "As every film schedule is going for a rejig, RRR might also get postponed to January 7 next year. Hence the team of Pushpa is now eyeing one among October 13 or December 15 as the new release date. A decision will be taken only after RRR makers decide on its release date, yet again," the source adds.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa marks Allu Arjun's first pan-Indian release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. The film also features Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, Daali Dhananjay, Sunil and Vennela Kishore in supporting roles. The film will see Allu Arjun as a red sander truck driver-turned-don. Pushpa has music by Devi Sri Prasad.
