Director Aneesh Varma who directed Suresh Gopi in his movie 'Kavyam' has leveled some serious allegations against the actor. He alleges that the movie was made on a total budget of 1 crore and the shooting was wrapped up in 23 days. The remuneration fixed for Suresh Gopi was 30 lakhs, out of which 20 was given to him soon. The pending 10 was held up due to some financial crisis.

While all the other actor including Navya Nair, Manjoj K Jayan et al turned up for dubbing, Suresh Gopi refused to comply, saying that he would dub only after receiving the rest of the amount. It was years later that director Aneesh Varma was able to approach Suresh Gopi with the said amount. But then, Suresh Gopi took a stand that his remuneration has now increased and that he should be given 70 lakhs. The movie is still in the cans and has no way of releasing. Aneesh is asking how a person who forgets his own movie, can save Indian cinema, referring to Suresh Gopi's appointment as NFDC's chairman.
