Kia Motors, the South Korean automotive manufacturer, has today commenced trial production at its mega plant in Anantapur. The first ever vehicle at this plant will be produced in July.
"With the trial run of the first car today, Kia Motors sets a benchmark by commencing trial production in a record time of one and a half year. The Korean automobile giant will also collaborate with the Andhra Pradesh government for developing an ecosystem for electric vehicles," Chandrababu Naidu said.
For the Indian market, the company is coming up with an SUV whose concept is technically SP2. The Anantapur facility has seen an investment of around $1 billion by Kia, while vendors too have invested that much.
"There will be an installed capacity of 300,000 vehicles annually right from July," the company has been quoted as saying.
