Alia Bhatt's upcoming film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' has been through immense development hell. The film was delayed several times and the production was halted just when the project was about to wrap up. The production came to a standstill when director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt both tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. The team has finally wrapped up the last remaining part of the project which also included a song sequence.

A source told close to the development shared, "It wasn't easy to complete 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', especially in the last leg. The new mutant (delta) of COVID in Maharashtra has infused a lot of scare in the film and TV industry. While a few restarts and beginnings have been made, we can only hope that they will sustain; one single case in a unit throws everything out of gear."

Now Bhansali is planning to start working on his next project, a web show titled 'Heera Mandi'. The filming will take place on the same location as soon as 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' sets are dismantled and new ones are erected.
