As artificial intelligence continues to make inroads, misuse of social media through this channel is becoming very common. This technique of misleading videos, known as deepfake videos, has superimposed one celebrity's face onto another's. In the latest incident, a popular video transposed actress Alia Bhatt's face onto Wamiqa Gabbi's.
The first was on April 27, when she posted a video on Instagram with some playful expressions set to a remixed song. Dressed in a red sari with a braid, she captioned the post, "Your Premiqa is indeed a Chamkila fan." However, a week later, a modified version of the same surfaced, with Gabbi's face replaced with Bhatt's, causing panic among the viewers as it hinted at the powers of AI.
An account named Unfixface uploaded the video, and after posting it on sites like Reddit, it went viral. People found the video quite frightening, with one commenter stating, "This is so scary; it's literally getting out of hand." Another said that the deep fake wasn't good, but clearly a sign of the danger in the early stages. Some were just praising actor Anil Kapoor for doing something legal against AI misuse, which they claimed was the need to create awareness.
