Actress Alia Bhatt made a bold choice by choosing to play a real life sex worker in the upcoming film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' and so far, her gamble seems to be paying off as the trailer of the film received a positive response. Some people also compared her character and performance with previous characters of Kangana Ranaut and Vidya Balan.
However, Alia doesn't acknowledge any such comparisons. When asked about the matter, she told Koimoi, "No, I have not heard any of this.” However she conceded that there were questions about her casting in the film.
She stated, "Yeah, people must have suggested casting. But I feel like one should not really get into… Somebody who is a director who has been working for 25 years obviously knows whom to cast in their main lead. I was okay with people thinking I was not right for the part because that is their own perspective.”
It seems like Kangana and Alia have a rather strenuous connection as the former has often been vocal against the latter. Last year, Kangana mocked Alia's casting in 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' by calling her a "chota baccha". Recently she also lashed out after coming across a viral video of a kid enacting Alia's dialog from the 'Gangubai.." trailer.
